Setting Almena Course Behavior (options)

Postby Clifton » Tue May 05, 2015 10:48 pm

NOTE: This information applies ONLY to Almena Method versions which were downloaded and installed on the hard drive of a Windows PC.

The Almena Method by default requires the learner to take a benchmark when they begin the typing course; again about halfway through the course; and finally when all the course materials have been viewed and the exercises tried. This behavior can be turned off if desired.

The Almena Method by default requires the learner to view the course materials in a specific order in order to achieve optimum results. This behavior can also be turned off if desired.

How to turn off one or both of the above behaviors:
  1. Start the Almena Method program.
  2. At the login screen, enter your first and last name and password and click Login NOW.
  3. Click on Options in menu at the right side of the screen. The Options, or preferences window should open.

  4. In the preferences window, place a checkmark alongside one or both of the options to turn OFF the default behavior. Unchecking one or both items will enable that behavior. In the example below, we have disabled the default behavior so that free course navigation is allowed and benchmarks are NOT required for the learner.

  5. Click on the red X in the title bar of the options window to close the window and use the settings.
  6. Click on the NEXT button in the navigation bar to enter the course. You should notice that navigation forward and backward is now allowed and you will no longer be asked to set progress benchmarks.
Of course, you can re-enable the default behaviors at any time by removing the checkmarks in the Options dialog window.
